We take pleasure in announcing the arrival of Dr. Hilary Petersel to our practice! Dr. Petersel is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She has an MBA and an MA in Medical Sciences from Boston University. Dr. Petersel received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric training at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. We know Dr. Petersel will be an asset to our practice and hope you will join us in welcoming her!
A message to our patients regarding "Medical-Clinics"
Physical exams can now be scheduled through December 12.
We have influenza vaccine in our office! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the vaccine for all children and young adults ages 6 months to 18 years. Please call to schedule an appointment with our nurses to vaccinate your child. See our influenza page for more information.
The NJSIAA has issued a new Athletic Pre-Participation Physical Exam Form that is required for participation in any Junior High and High School sports programs. If your child is age 10 and older, is scheduled for a physical exam, and is going to participate in any sports in the upcoming year, you must click on the link above, print out the form, and fill out your sections of the form PRIOR to coming to the office. These forms are quite thorough and need to be reviewed by the doctor. Also, please speak to your school administrators about whether a vision screen is required for sports clearance. There will be a $10 charge for each of these forms.
MRSA - We have been getting a lot of questions regarding MRSA (Methicillin-Resisitant Staphylococcus Aureus) and its implications for our patients. While this is not a new problem for us, it has received a lot of attention in the media recently. We urge our patients to visit the Centers for Disease Control website for reliable information about MRSA. Here is a link to their information page on MRSA.
RotaTeq - a new vaccine against rotavirus. There is a new vaccine on the market against rotavirus, a virus that cases gastroenteritis in infants and children and may lead to dehydration requiring hospitalization. The vaccine is given orally and administered in a 3-dose series and the 2-, 4-, and 6-month visits. For more information, please see our rotavirus page.
The FDA and EPA have issued updated 2004 recommendations for fish consumption by women and children to minimize mercury exposure; you may access the recommendation through this link.
