Welcome to the Maple Avenue Pediatrics web page!

News and announcements:

We wish to welcome all our new and current patients and encourage you to utilize our Maple Avenue Pediatrics Web Site. If you are visiting our practice for the first time, use these helpful links to review the HIPAA Privacy Policy. You can then print an Acknowledgement of Receipt of Privacy Policy, New Patient Form and Child’s Health History form, complete them at your leisure and bring them with you for your first visit. This will help to save time before your visit with the doctor.

Spring is almost here!  So far it has been a mild flu season, but there have been some cases reported.  The CDC reports flu in New Jersey as being local.  We still have flu shots available for those who have yet to receive them.  The spring allergy season is also around the corner.  March is a great time to schedule a consultation about spring allergies before the trees and flowers are in bloom. Also, now is the time to book your camp physicals.  Please note that all children going to sleepaway camp need a dose of the meningococcal vaccine (Menactra).  We routinely give this vaccine at 11 and 16 years of age.

We have started to do travel consultations.  These travel consultations are not covered by insurance and will cost $100.  We will research the country that you are traveling to and determine if the following are needed: 1) additional vaccines, 2) malaria prophylaxis, and 3) treatment for traveler’s diarrhea.  If the typhoid vaccine is needed this will be an additional $100 that is also not covered by insurance.  At the time you schedule your appointment, please make sure that you make us aware of the country you are traveling to and provide us with documentation of any vaccines previously received at a travel clinic.

We have also begun to offer Gardasil to boys ages 12 and up.  This vaccine has already been given for several years to girls.  The vaccine provides protection against the 4 subtypes of Human Papillomavirus with the largest disease burden.  It is a 3 dose series in which the second dose is given 2 months after the first dose and the third dose is given six months after the first one.  In boys the vaccine protects against genital, oral, and anal warts and cancers.  It will also protect against the transmission of HPV to females where it can cause cervical cancer.

The Doctors at Maple Avenue Pediatrics

·         This Memorial Day weekend starts our summer weekend hours.  We will be closed on Saturday, May 26th and Monday, May 28th.  The office will be open on Sunday, May 27th for sick visits.  As always, we are available via the pager 24/7 for emergencies!

·         We are updating all of our patient contact and insurance information at all visits.  If you wish to fill this form out in advance, you may do so prior to your visit by clicking on the Insurance and Forms link below and filling out New Patient Form.  Thank you for your assistance.

·         We are now offering the Adacel booster (Tdap – Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) to all parents and grandparents under the age of 65 in our office.  The cost will be $65 and will not be covered by insurance.  This vaccine is especially important to protect our babies from getting pertussis (whooping cough)!

·         As of February 1st, United Health Care and Oxford will now be covering the Gardasil for boys.  If you were unable to schedule the vaccine at your physical, please call for an appointment!

·         ** Updated 5/22/12 **  The schedule is open through July 22nd!

·         We now have a new device called Cryosolutions which contains nitrous oxide that can be used to treat skin tags and warts.  Please call us to make appointments for these conditions.

·         We have joined AmeriHealth.  Please tell all your friends who have this health insurance that we are now accepting it!

·         We have joined Facebook!  Search for Maple Avenue Pediatrics and “like” us.  We will use this site to convey important information about pediatrics in the news as well as office happenings!  We will not answer medical questions or take appointments via this page!

·         We are now charging $10 to complete all allergy and asthma forms.  These forms are very time consuming for our head nurse to fill out.
